…Nearly twenty years later, fate—and Bumble—brought them back together. Watching them interact, it's impossible not to notice how naturally they fit. They are truly best friends, constantly laughing together and bringing out the very best in one another.

Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of that connection. And the tequila shots didn’t hurt either ;) …

Meghann + Adam are friends to lovers who 100% are best friends too. We opted to start their engagement session at Duck City Bistro, a Quad Cities staple and one of their favorite spots. Our inspiration was an evening date night, rom-com style and honestly, with the help of some booze and laughter, I think we crushed the brief.

Logan + Jonathan have a love that is so deeply rooted in genuine friendship that you just know they’re gonna “make it”. What started as a workplace friendship blossomed into a relationship they wanted to get the government involved in. But on a genuine note, it’s hard to picture one without the other. The deep comfort and FUN Logan + Jonathan find in each other is refreshing and inspiring. I just love it when the perfect people seem to find one another. My favorite word at work, serendipity.

From the personalized Viking vows and ceremony “horn” toast, to colorful suits on the guys and a seating chart “grown” by the couple, the details at the University Club perfectly reflected the fun, loving, down to earth vibe of Cindy, Adam and their whole tribe. I loved Cindy’s embrace of color and modern elegance and Adam’s funky style (and dance moves, duh).

We spent the evening exploring their favorite spots, capturing the essence of their relationship in the gorgeous fall atmosphere. The photoshoot was all about being natural and letting their day-to-day love story guide us. We started and ended at one of their favorite haunts, Lucas Confectionary (I can vouch for the service, the wine, and later, the delicious garlic knots). And then, we just wandered, a favorite verb of mine. From sipping green mead in a raved out alleyway to strolling through the historic streets, every moment was authentic and unscripted. I often describe my dream sessions with clients as just a really fun date that they happened to have photographed and truly, I think the photos we took speak to just that vibe.

Industrial, editorial and badass were the vibes for Maggie + Jason’s moody October wedding at Hotel Blackhawk in Davenport Iowa, Quad Cities.

The vibes were giving warm, relaxed bohemian dreams and I was living for it. Ski Tip Lodge is like a darling little hobbit hole tucked beside some hills and a gorgeous little lake—pond? Thing. The venue gives off maximum rustic, historic, cozy vibes that are perfect for a micro-wedding. Mal + Matt even trusted me to take them off site where I had just that morning, in desperation, found the last colorful aspens in the whole area for photos.
